Adam Singer, Director of Bands

Adam Singer, is a native of Bassett, Virginia, where he attended Bassett High School. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BM in music education. While at UNCG, he participated in University Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Sinfonia Orchestra, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra, and Trumpet Ensemble. Mr. Singer was a semi-finalist in the National Trumpet Competition and has performed at the International Trumpet Guild Conference. He studied trumpet under Dr. Edward Bach and Mr. Mark Clodfelter. He was a member and officer of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity. Mr. Singer participated in The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps from 2011-2013, winning the drum corps' 10th World Championship in 2011. In 2019, Mr. Singer received the Ed Rooker Encore Award presented by the American School Band Directors Association. Mr. Singer currently serves as the Comission and Clinican Chair for the South Central District Band Director Association. He also sits on the Board of Directors as the High School Representative for the District. Mr. Singer has served as a mentor for student teachers and beginning teachers in the Charlotte area.
Mr. Singer is currently in his 7th year teaching. He started his career teaching 6th-8th grade band, theatre, and general music at P.S Jones Middle School in Washington, NC. From there, he became the Associate Director of Bands at South Caldwell High School in Hudson, NC. While he was there, he co-taught three levels of concert band, AP Music Theory, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Percussion Ensemble. In 2017, he began teaching at Cox Mill High School. Mr. Singer teaches Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra, and the Spirit of Cox Mill Marching Band. While at Cox Mill, the band has received multiple first-place awards at local marching band competitions and continues to receive excellent and superior ratings at NC-MPA Concert Festival.
Mr. Singer currently resides in Concord, North Carolina with his wife, Chelsea, and their two pets Mia and Cooper.

Leah Pfeiffer, Director, Harris Road Middle School
The Harris Road Middle School Band program is under the direction of Mrs. Leah Pfeiffer. Mrs. Pfeiffer is in her 9th year teaching middle school band in NC. This is her third year at Harris Road having previously taught at Corriher-Lipe middle school in the Rowan-Salisbury School System where she grew the program by over 200% and earned the school's first super ratings in over 35 years.
Mrs. Pfeiffer is a graduate of Elon University with a bachelor of science in K-12 Music Education. Her primary instrument is trumpet and trombone and she continues to perform professionally as much as possible, as well as participate as a guest clinician throughout NC, and as a marching band adjudicator as well. Mrs. Pfeiffer was named Teacher of the Year in 2017 and is the 2019 recipient of the ASBDA Edgar Q. Rooker Encore Award.
Mrs. Pfeiffer is a resident of the Cabarrus county community and is married with two sons, Nolan (5) and Graham (2), and has a plot hound named Sammy, and cat, Issa.
